Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.
So, what does this mean to your business?
It means that Google is now forcing your hand. If you want traffic, you need to get mobile!
If your business still doesn’t have a mobile optimized or responsive website, it will be less likely to show up on the first page of Google when a consumer searches for your services/products. It means that your website will be ranked lower — below any of your competitors who may already have mobile friendly websites. Google’s new algorithm is a major update and not something you should ignore.
People are using mobile devices more and more every day. If your website provides a poor experience for smart phone and/or tablet users, you are probably missing out on customers anyways. Addressing this right away could be a massive opportunity for your business, while your competitors are still left scrambling!
How Do You Know If Your Site is Mobile-Friendly?
You’ll need to check — by googling yourself. Get on your smart phone and look up your website in Google search. If you see a grey “mobile-friendly” label next to your website, then you’re mobile. If you don’t see that label — get busy before April 21st because after that you’re website will get harder to find in search results. Although, Google is likely to roll out the change over a period of time you need to get started planning so you don’t miss out on sales and business opportunities.
What’s the Good News?!
